Dennis “Denny” Akers served the Jennings School District for 30+ years as he began his teaching and coaching career in 1978.  Coach Akers was a member of Hal Moore’s coaching staff through their dominating run of the early 80s.  Although the Indiana State grad loved his basketball, it was baseball that was Coach Akers passion where he led the Warriors to the State final four in 1985 along with several other successful seasons.  Sports was not the only passion for Coach Akers has he was an effective social studies classroom teacher.  In the late 90s, Mr. Akers moved into an assistant principal position before being named the building principal in 2009.  Coach Akers retired from the Jennings school district in 2012 and now lives with his wife in Tennessee.
