Cheerleading
The 1998-99 Cheer squad coached by Dawn Hill, was a squad that consisted of all seniors. In 1999, Ms. Hill stated “they have a great deal of talent and they work very well together”. Cheerleader Latonya Templeton claimed that “cheerleading is such a fun program to get involved with, but it also is a lot of hard work. Ms. Hill is a very committed coach who takes a lot of her time to spend with the squad. I feel like all coaches should be committed like she is”.
This impressive cheer squad earned several awards for their work dating back from the summer prior to the school year, including:
Camp Awards (Universal Cheerleaders Association):
Superior Squad Rating
Spirit Award
Leadership Award (voted on by all other schools attending)
Program Improvement Award
National All-Stars: Mia White, Kayophe Parson, Tyra Williams, Mary Crenshaw.
Highest GPA out of any athletic teams at Jennings Senior High in 1998-99.
