Faculty, Warrior Basketball
Hal Moore was born Nov. 9, 1926, in St. Louis. He joined the military where he was a Navy radioman during World War II and served on the USS Breton. Hal Moore began his teaching and coaching career in the Jennings School District after serving our country. Coach Moore began his career in education at “Fairview” as it was the high school for the district at that time (Fairview is still in the school district and serves as an elementary school). Coach Moore taught physical education and coached baseball and basketball for the Fairview Blue Jays and eventually coached those sports along with tennis and golf as a Jennings Warrior. Coach Moore received the Denver Miller high school coach of the year award in 1985 and Suburban East coach of the year for four of 12 occasions. It was basketball that was Coach Moore’s calling, who served the district for 37 years as the basketball coach. Coach Moore had so many outstanding teams that you are able to see in this virtual trophy case.
1982 graduate and current JSD employee Spencer Hope said about Hal Moore “He was a father figure to so many students in our district…no matter who you were or where you came from, he showed love and compassion to all”

Hal Moore with Coach Craine…the head basketball coach at Fairview prior to Coach Moore taking over. (1953)
